Collection of Personal Data

The operators of this webpage take the protection of your personal data seriously.

Personal data means all information related to specific users, like your name, address, email or your internet usage (Art. 4 Nr. 1 der EU-Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DS-GVO)).

The Data Protection Commissioner can be contacted by datenschutzbeauftragter@kit.edu or using the postal suffix „Data Protection Commissioner“.

If you contact us using email or using an internet form your data (e.g. mail address or phone number) will be stored to answer your questions. The data will be deleted, immediately if the storage is not necessary anymore. We will respect legal provision on data storage.

Log Files

During the usage of the webpage only data provided by your browser is recorded. This information can be configured in the browser settings. Out of consideration for events which may affect security, relevant access data are logged each time the web server is accessed according to Art. 6 Abs. 1 S. 1 lit. f DS-GVO.

The log data file will contain items with the following information:

  • IP address of the computer requested
  • date and time of the request
  • timezone relative to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
  • access method / function intended by requesting computer
  • access status of Web server (file transferred, file not found, command not executed, etc.)
  • name of file requested
  • transferred amount of data
  • URL from which the file or the desired function was requested
  • browser name

This data cannot be related to an individual person. It will not be merged with data from other sources.

SSL-Encryption

The website uses an SSL-encryption. In the address line of the browser that prefix “http://” changes to “https://” and a lock symbol is displayed. The encryption prevents third parties to follow your communication with our website.

Cookies

Cookies are small text messages stored at your browser. This information can be access by website to identify a user. Cookies cannot execute applications or transfer viruses. Our website is not using cookies unless a user logs in with his personal account.
