Idea

During the last years synchrotrons provide more and more short photon pulses with high intensity. Application fields are the investigation of nonlinear dynamics of chemical and biochemical reactions in real-time, spintronics or high temperature supraconductivity. The characterization of this pulses requires fast detectors, advanced data acquisition systems and online processing of high data streams. The goal of the project is to develop robust detector system for beam diagnostics of single shots with repetition rate up the several megahertz. Complementary detection principles should be combined into a toolbox for advanced beam diagnostics.

Required key technologies:

  • Sampling systems with pico to femtosecond resolution
  • High-throughput, low-noise data acqcuisition
  • Online data processing
